What is CLS (Common Language Specification)?

CLS stands for Common Language Specification, it is a subset of CTS.

Microsoft has defined CLS which are nothing but guidelines for all .NET framework supported languages to follow so that it can communicate with each other .NET language in a seamless manner.
It was always a dream of Microsoft to unite all different languages under one umbrella (.NET framework).
