What are therules for constructing floating-point constants in exponential form?

  1. A floating-point constant in exponential form is of the general form: mantissa e exponent  or   mantissa E exponent
  2. The mantissa is either an integer or a real number in decimal notation, with an optional + or - sign
  3. The exponent is an integer number with an optional + or - sign
  4. The allowable range for floating-point constants are -3.4E38 to 3.4E38

Example of floating point constants :

  1. const float x = 3E-1
  2. const float y= 3E0
  3. const float z = .527E2
  4. const float m = -999E-2
